The Office of Business Affairs is an administrative division within Appalachian State University.Their mission is to provide the most effective and efficient accounting and budgeting of the university's financial resources, while also providing exemplary services that maintain the support necessary for the infrastructure, safety and physical operation of the campus. The Office of Business Affairs Records contain mostly administrative and correspondence files, dating 1925-2003, with bulk dates of 1964-2000.

Departments operating under the umbrella of the Office of Business Affairs include the following: Broyhill Inn and Conference Center, Budget Office, Business Systems, Centrex Office, Controller's Office, Design and Construction, Food Services, Holmes Convocation Center, Materials Management, New River Light and Power, New York Loft, Office of Sustainability, Parking and Traffic, Physical Plant, Safety and Workers Compensation Office, Student Accounts, University Bookstore, University Police, University Post Office.

Scope and Contents

The Office of Business Affairs Records contain mostly administrative and correspondence files, dating 1925-2003, with bulk dates of 1964-2000. Because of the broad scope of Business Affairs operations, there are a variety of subject matters in these files, including: budget, New River Power and Light, building construction, meteorological plan, environmental assessments, correspondence with other offices, Auxiliary Services, facilities, student housing, privatization, payroll, taxes, and various reports. Many of the files take the form of correspondence, and administrative files include memoranda, reports, budget/financial documents, planning documents, meeting minutes, agendas and contracts.
