Abstract:

The Office of Conferences and Institutes provides quality support services to faculty, students, staff and external clients who are involved in the development and implementation of credit and non-credit educational and recreational programs. These records contain information files, correspondence, program files and other official forms, dating 1958-2001, with bulk dates of 1978-1995.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Office of Conferences and Institutes, which operates within the Division of Continuing Education, provides quality support services to faculty, students, staff and external clients who are involved in the development and implementation of credit and non-credit educational and recreational programs. Their staff works with campus departments to arrange for every programming detail coordinating housing, meals, publicity, pre-registrations, registrations, financial management, transportation and facilities. Of particular note is Camp Broadstone, ASU's year round outdoor adventure and retreat center. Its 55 acres of woods and meadows are located in the small community of Valle Crucis nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Scope and Contents

The Office of Conferences and Institutes Records contain information files, correspondence, program files and other official forms, dating 1958-2001, with bulk dates of 1978-1995. Much of the information in these records pertains to Camp Broadstone and its operation. Many of the files contain brochures, agendas, and other informational documents and ephemera. These records also contain program files and correspondence which relate to specific sessions of camps, including varying correspondence materials, rosters and programming information.

This collection is open for use in the Dougherty Reading Room. An appointment for research is recommended. The Dougherty Reading Room is located on the 4th floor of Belk Library in Special Collections.
