This collection consists of a scrapbook of newspaper clippings and photographs from the activities of the Library Science Club from 1949 through 1978.

Biographical/Historical Note

Appalachian State University has had a long tradition in Library Science. As ASU essentially began as a teachers' training school, education courses have nearly always been offered, and in particular, Library Science courses have been offered since 1939. It is unknown how long the Library Science Club operated for, though as of 2011, it is no longer extant.

Scope and Contents

This collection includes a single Hollinger Flip-top archival box and consists of a scrapbook of newspaper clippings and photographs from the activities of the Library Science Club from 1949 through 1978. The scrapbook has a red cover with red twisted cording for use as a binding material. Also included in this accession are two file folders containing more newspaper clipping and other Library Science Club documents.
