Dr. Michael Wade's graduate students in 1987 conducted interviews of New River Light and Power Company employees. The transcripts along with research on New River Light and Power Company were utilized by his graduate students in his 2006 Seminar in Oral History class to complete the "Research Design for the History of the New River Light and Power Company" document in December 2006.

Biographical/Historical Note

The New River Light and Power Company project was a class project in the History 5579 Seminar in Oral History taught by Dr. Michael Wade in Fall 2006. The research, interviews, and transcripts are works of his 1987 graduate students, along with others' help, including the employees of New River Light and Power Company and ASU attorney, Dayton Cole.

Scope and Contents

The New River Light and Power Research Project consists of documents, audio materials, and photographs created or used by History 5579 Seminar in Oral History taught by Dr. Michael Wade in Fall 2006. The collection contents are oral history interview tapes conducted in 1987 through 2006 by New River Light and Power employees and Wade's students. Also included is the transcript of a conversation between Dayton Cole, University attorney, and Mr. Wade Brown in 2006. Historic photographs, digitized images on an included CD with printed reproductions, and research materials about the history of the New River Light and Power Company are also included.

The interviews are recorded on seven audio cassette tapes and two CD's. There are forty-six black and white historic photographs related to the New River Light and Power Company, which have been digitized and printed. Some have subject information printed on the backs of the photos.

Arrangement

This collection is arranged with transcripts in alphabetical order by name, followed by research files in alphabetical order, with copies of historic photographs at the end of Box 1. Box 2 contains seven audio cassettes of interviews and two CDs with digitized photographs and two other interviews.
