"Development of Public Education in Watauga County, North Carolina" was a book compiled by the Bicentennial Committee and edited by Tom Corbitt, of the ASU News Bureau, and contributed to by Reka Shoemake, Maxie Edmisten, Lucy Luther, Kate Peterson and Beatrice Winkler. The book was published in 1976 and contains information and images pertaining to public schools in Watauga County, primarily between the Civil War Era and the 1970s.
