Biographical/Historical Note

The University Photograph Collection is comprised of photographs, in varying formats, that depict the people and campus of Appalachian throughout its more than 100 years of existence. Though official photographs of the university are generally produced and maintained by University Communications, these photographs largely come from individual donors, some of whom are former students. Many of the photos are of ASU's campus, building and construction of which is handled by the Physical Plant at ASU (the records of which can be found in UA.5058). Additionally, there are photos used by The Appalachian and The Rhododendron, the student newspaper and yearbook, respectively. This collection was created out of several disparate collections, and this variety is reflected in the subject matters and origins of the photos.
