Biographical/Historical Note

Rickey C. Kirkpatrick received a Ph.D. in Economics from Tulane University in 1978. Kirkpatrick came to Appalachian State University in 1980 as an assistant professor of economics. In 1982 he was made associate professor of economics and director of the bureau of economic and business research. In 1995 he was appointed assistant dean for graduate studies and external programs of the John A. Walker College of Business at ASU. Before coming to ASU, he was a visiting instructor in economics at Tulane University and an instructor in economics at Xavier. Kirkpatrick's fields of expertise include microeconomic theory, international trade and finance, urban and regional economics, and statistics. He has been published in multiple journals, including "Review of Economics and Statistics and "Journal of Regional Science,' and co-authored a college textbook in economic forecasting. Kirkpatrick is now retired.
