Abstract:

J. Paul Winkler was a graduate of Appalachian State Teacher's College and was instrumental in organizing the Burke County chapter of alumni. The J. Paul Winkler Scrapbooks, created by Winkler himself, are predominately related to the Appalachian State Teachers College football team, but also includes information realted other ASTC athletic teams and to the college.

J. Paul Winkler is a graduate of Appalachian State Teacher's College. He was instrumental in organizing the Burke County chapter of alumni.

Scope and Contents

The J. Paul Winkler scrapbooks consist of newspaper clippings, programs, posters, flyers, ticket stubs, and correspondence that focus on the Appalachian State Teachers College, most predominately about the ASTC football team. The scrapbooks also include clippings about alumni news and local news in the town of Boone, North Carolina, as well as the basketball, wrestling and boxing teams.
