In July 2004, Kenneth Edward Peacock became the sixth chancellor of Appalachian State University. This collection consists of administrative documents and materials concerning Peacock's installation.

Biographical/Historical Note

A native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Kenneth Peacock received his undergraduate degree in accounting at Mars Hill College, and then pursued his master's and doctorate degrees in accounting at Louisiana State University. Before his appointment as the sixth chancellor of Appalachian State University in 2004, Kenneth Peacock served as both interim provost and executive vice chancellor. Peacock first came to ASU in 1983 as a faculty member in the Walker College of Business. He later served as the assistant dean of the business school in 1987 and was named associate dean in 1989. Between 1992 and 2003, Peacock served as dean of the College of Business. During Chancellor Peacock's tenure, Appalachian has witnessed significant growth and an improvement of quality in the academic programs, bringing nationwide acclaim to the University.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of administrative documents and documents from the Office of the Chancellor concerning the Installation of Chancellor Kenneth Peacock on April 22, 2005. Documents include invitations, mailings lists, programs, correspondence, schedules, planning committee minutes, and individual event plans. Correspondence is from the planning of the weeklong celebration and various events on the ASU campus. Copies of blank invitations, RSVP cards, and event programs are included for the various events. Programs from other Universities installation ceremonies are included. Administrative documents from this collection address topics including: Annual reports, University Attorney, Athletics, Human Resources, Financial Information, Search Committee records, Correspondence, Appalachian Regional Development Institution (ARDI), and Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC).
